What is Flow Rate Measurement?

Flow rate test used to measure the strength and speed of urination, a bladder scan is performed after urinating to check how much urine is left behind in the bladder.

When is flow rate testing indicated?

Flow rate testing is performed to neutrally assess the urine flow when there is difficulties passing urine. It is also used to monitor the success of medical and surgical treatments. It may show whether there is a blockage to urination.

How is flow rate testing performed?

You will need to arrive at the test with a comfortably full bladder. You will be asked to urinate into a special urinal, make sure you pee totally into the urinal. A ultrasound bladder scan will be performed after urinating to see how much urine is left in the bladder.
